Today was exciting for two reasons:
International Tiger Day!
HAIRCUTS!
For those of you playing at home, I haven’t had my haircut since Moose Jaw.. I was in dire need…
BEFORE.AFTER.
Now onto the furry critter you came to see… Uno, the Siberian Tiger! Uno wearing a special flower crown that Maddy made him!
Sadly, in the wild, Tigers like Uno as well as their cousins, the Bengal Tiger, are listed as an endangered species. A recent report claims that there are less than 3,200 left in the wild.
Uno feeling VERY pretty. One of the greatest threats to tigers in the wild, as well as animals like Asian Elephants and Orangutans, is the destruction of their rainforest homes by humans. The main driving factor in this destruction? PALM OIL. It is found in a ridiculous amount of everyday products from peanut butter to shampoo, and we are buying it like crazy, not realizing the impact it’s having on southeastern Asian rainforests.
Limba, the Asian Elephant. As a beloved member of the Bowmanville Zoo for MANY years, she passed away leaving a long past of conservation and raising awareness for her species in the wild.
All we need to do to stop this is to stop buying palm oil products, because as soon as the demand drops, the devastation will fade out.
Uno is counting on all of us to save tigers! We have it in us to change the world for the better. Let’s make it so our grandchildren still are able to celebrate international tiger day!🐅

As exciting as the nature trails within walking distance of Prarieland Park are, I was itching to go downtown, and also, to see ANT-MAN. Thankfully, I’ve got a friend named McKenzie who can drive a truck and also likes superhero movies.. SO WE WENT!
A statue of Ghandi surprised us downtown.
“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
-Mohatma Ghandi
A quote that has always inspired me..! I hope deep down that doing this job I am able to awaken people to the danger animals are in in the wild, and just maybe make a change..!
A nifty looking old hotel downtown.
Ant-man was a fantastic movie, surpassing a lot of my expectations, and making for a very fun evening “out”.

I’d like start of this blog post with a BIG thank-you to everyone who had continued to support me by reading along about my (mis)adventures! We are in this together..! You and I have stuck it out this far, and, I hope, there’s no turning back for any of us!
I will let you know now though, that we have 10 days of nothing here in Saskatoon before the next fair, which means I’ll be desperate for blogging material. Please bare with me!
Since today was our first day in Saskatoon, I needed to do some exploring..!
I made sure I wore my most fashionable exploring outfit as I crossed the South Saskatchewan River.
Clouds loom ominously over the river. The Bridge.
After my morning if exploring, it was time to take my dangerous feline accomplice on his daily walk. Boots trying to turn the tables on whos walking who…
Tomorrow will hopefully be filled with many more adventure at!
Until today, I was absolutely sure that the nicest scenery in all of Canada that we’d seen on this trip was the lake-filled mountainous region of North-western Ontario. Then we drove through the canyon near Cypress County.
Beautiful canyon walls surrounding the river.A glimpse thay hardly encompasses the majesty of the landscape.
Before you tear up from the beauty of this gorgeous gorge, let’s go back to this morning to catch you up. We left Medicine Hat bright and early and began our drive to “Saskatoon, Saskatchewan” (try saying that 5 times fast..). McKenzie washing our windshield at a has station, because we’ve learned I am not very good at it.

was an added sense of excitement in the air today, because we all knew that we only had 1 month left. Despite all the fun times we’ve had, the homesickness has made its rounds, and the thought of home motivated us (at least it did for me).
SURPRISE! Some more scenery.
After what was a scenic and relaxing drive (except for worrying about the state of my spaceman statue in the shower [read precious blog if that statement confused you]) we finally arrived in Saskatoon, where after a late night sub from subway, I hit the hay… And after slapping the bale of hay for no conceivable reason I went to sleep. Leaving that very nice canyon behind.
While one might assume the weekend is the busiest time for exhibitions, today was the opposite. Contrasted to the enormous crowds we were greeted with yesterday, I was surprised to see such small numbers on the final day of the fair.
Skootles wondering where the roaring crowds are..Despite the smaller turnout, we had an excellent day of shows, followed by many compliments from audience members, which are always lovely. As the day started to slowly reach its end, I had a very important decision to make. Upon my wandering in the adjacent art gallery yesterday, I found a piece that really spoke to me. It was complex, haunting, and most importantly… In my price range.
I live by a motto, that’s gotten me through life pretty happy so far: You regret the things you don’t do more than you’ll ever regret the things you do.
I bought the art… The only challenge now was finding somewhere to pit it… Did I mention it’s 7ft tall? My “Artwork”. While his given name is EX-0, we lovingly refer to him as Mohammod.
I figured out pretty quickly it wouldn’t fit in my room… Luckily, he did fit in the shower in the trailer, where he rests comfortably until he can furnish whatever room I put him in. I see him as a true centerpiece.

This shall be a blog in two segments. The first will detail the events of the day, the second will be the extremely helpful guide afformentioned in the title. Feel free to read whichever section you feel most personally invested in, I won’t be offended. TODAY: Was entirely uneventful. We had three successful shows. Lots of laughs, and one particularly amusing water fight in the evening, between Dirk and Maddy, which I tried to remain neutral in. Oh, and I befriended a lovely old lady at the art exhibit/sale. Which is what prompted the second part of this post.
LOGAN’S Guide on how to make Elderly Women appreciate you.
Don’t be afraid to talk to them. They were your age once too. Sure, they may have been your age at a time before colour TV and Angry Birds, but that’s no excuse.
Stand up straight. Try and look presentable. Any tidbit of advice your grandma had given you applies here too.
Smile and nod. They may not have the vision or hearing they used to, but they can tell if you’re not engaged by their stories of how their cat loves Werther’s candy almost as much as they do.
Have an open mind. They might have some wisdom, especially about art [in the case they work in the art gallery].
Now I just have to resist purchasing any art from my new elderly friend… My fingers are crossed!

There’s always something stressful about the second day of shows in a new location. Maybe it is because the first day is meant for learning about the audience and making mistakes. Maybe it’s because the subsequent days are close enough to the end to warrant serenity. Whatever the reason, day two takes a lot out of you.
Climbing ladders to fix the things the prarie wind has knocked down.
We as a group were also pretty tired today… Using our “LOST” watching breaks for other seemingly more prominent things than watching the world’s greatest tv show.
Rather than being entranced by the expert story-telling of LOST, Dirk catched a few ZZZs.
Luckily, even on muggy, crazy, second-day types of days, there is hope of fun and happiness to shine through. Like me and Skootles bonding!

This is hardly our first fair location where we’ve been competing for attention with other shows/attractions, but today we had to duke it out against a local dog show… I made sure to open our show with the wolves, and remark on their stature, because let’s be honest, size matters.
McKenzie and Kane wait backstage for their moment to “wow” the audience with all of Kane’s skills.
In between scheming against the poor collies and beagles across from us stealing all our love from fans, and hosting my own shows, I still needed to find a nice quiet place to study some psychology… Somewhere like I am going back to a more peaceful time… Somewhere like the Pioneer Village.
Studying psych just like the pioneers used to.
Day one went successfully, especially after getting keys to a private shower. This meant no more “friendly” carnivals folks starting conversations between stalls while you’re trying to shampoo. It’s the simple things that make me the happiest.
Out of all the downright eclectic and strange places we’ve parked our travelling menagerie, I don’t know why I was still so amused to see our next new home, right next to the Medicine Hat “pioneer village”. A charming looking place that served as a nice break spot after unpacking, and there was a tonne of unpacking.
Skootles excited to see her new residence.
McKenzie and I decided that to maximize my unpacking skills in the scorching heat, it’d be best to remove my sleeves…
Hot; just like Sriracha.
After a busy day of setting everything up for the next day’s shows, I did a little bit of exploring to try and find showers [a commodity indefinitely used to take for granted], and I stumbled upon this scenic view.
I also learned today that the locals affectionately refer to this city as “The Hat”.. Cute.

This morning after a little bit of last minute packing up (and getting new keys for one of the trucks, because we lost the others), we were finally ready to make the short and easy drive to Medicine Hat.
Waiting for Dirk to get the new keys.
I was feeling confident that today would good day, despite our previous bad luck with driving. Not long after beginning to drive though, we took a small detour and visited the “Discovery Wildlife Park”, an enchanting zoo right off the highway near Red Deer, who invited us to visit for a behind the scenes tour! Now you have to understand, I love a good zoo, especially getting to see behind the scene, but there was something even more exciting than all of that…! GOLF CARTS. I’d never been on a golf cart before today, and let me tell you, they are pretty darn fun.
Maddy, myself, and McKenzie zooming about on the back of a golfcart.
After that super fun pit-stop (they gave us free food too!) we began the rest of our drive… Which is when we arrived at our second [unplanned] pit-stop… The side of the road… We lost another tire to the mean roads of the praries.
McKenzie sits by our broken down trailer. Another scenic place to have the vehicle breakdown.McKenzie takes the oppurtunity to do some stretches.
Eventually, help arrived, and we made it the rest of the way to Medicine Hat, where on the drive it to town we saw the worlds largest TEEPEE! Finally, we made it.Logan
